I think it is not the most important that, for me the most important is the intention of the people, and when you know that someone is wishing you to enjoy the moment, you can notice the friendly, benevolent and lovely heart that that person has.

There are lot of people who doesn`t really know the meaning about merry christmas or happy holidays, what they really know is, this is the momment to share, to take a time for stay with their family, if they have possibilities, is time for love, peace and armony. thats the real meaning.

I agree with the idea that this is a very special moment for most Christians. However, also is a time to share with the family and closer friends. I prefer saying Merry Christmas, but it doesn’t matter to me if someone says Happy Holydays. By the way, Merry Christmas or Happy Holydays to all of you ;)

Marry Christmas!… Because is time to stay with your family and celebrate with them. So “you are on holidays because is christmas”

I think that both have at the end the same meaning because this days represent the born of Christ who is the symbol of love, armony, blessings and good things. So we can’t say only Holydays or just Merry christmas if the meaning of this days (that I think this should be every day in the whole year) is being in peace, love, armony and share with the people that you love and also with people that you don’t.

I think merry Christmas it is used only for December 24th and 25th. Happy holidays are more for all the events (Christmas and New Year). But whatever you use, both are to wish the best wishes in these terrific and wonderful days.

In countries where exist a real State of Law, they have to stress and make enfasis that all government institutions are not religions institutions, the period of history where the church had control over every aspect of our lifes are gone.

Another point for consideration, we have to show respect to the rest of people who have a different religion of christian.

That includes stores, public buildings, even the bus station of stadiums, remember the USA was formed by inmigrant from different nationalities and religions and they have different dates of celebration that aren’t considerated national hollidays, so having for example day off on Dec 25th, we are not incluiding the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
