Why Facebook Is for Old Fogies

Facebook is five. Maybe you didn’t get it in your news feed, but it was in February 2004 that Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg, along with some classmates, launched the social network that ate the world. Did he realize back then in his dorm that he was witnessing merely the larval stage of his creation? For what began with college students has found its fullest, richest expression with us, the middle-aged. Here are 10 reasons Facebook is for old fogies:

Facebook is obviously a site where you can meet people or greet to your friends and know new things about them, but some people use these sites for pornography. I have a count in facebook and I found so many people there.
So, if you are a student you can find topics and people that share your ideas or if you are a clerk too, but you have to be careful when you upload your photos in this site.

Despite I don’t like Facebook, I know it is a great tool to find old friends and aldo to meet new people, so it is not surprising that “old fogies” spend some time looking for for a friend.

I agree with the article of Lev Grossman, but it is better to have a friend that live near you or other city.

Face book is a tool we can use to find old friends that we have lost contact, but now a day is easier to be in contact that in the past, now we can send e-mail or chat with our friends, is more difficult to lost contact with people we like to be together. Almost everybody has access to Internet.

here are many good reasons to become a member of facebook to keep in touch with friends and meet new people, to revive old memories among others, but I do not think that should be used as a tool for communicating with co-workers because it exist after herrramientsas as intranet, microsoft outlook that are designed specifically for working

I’m agree that it could be for old fogies, but it could be also for young people, one of the reasons is that nowadays everybody spend more time at work, and then, spend time in our houses with our families, and we have less and less time to spend with friends, compared with the time we spent with them in high school or in the university, all of us have more responsibilities everyday ;) .

I think these are the reasons that I will be giving my kids when they ask me “Mom, why did you sign in to Facebook on the first place and then, stood there for so many years?”.
I must say, I agree with them ha ha ha :D

I like facebook that you can share photos, and maintain good communication with friends and family here.
I personally found a former co-worker did not know it for a long time and gave me joy to know her.
    This is very interesting topic.

I agree, more people (older people) is opening a FB account to be in touch with their old friends and family. They seem to like it but us as their kids don’t =)

It’s true that facebook keeps people in touch even if they are near or far. It has many atractions like share pictures, experiences, games, and others. But, I belive that facebook has more disadvantages than advantages. For example: people spend lot of time surfing on this “social network”. So, they do not pay attention to their homework, jobs, family, problems, etc. And this is the dark side. Another disadvantage is that facebook is a website where people upload personal information and daily activities that can be used to commit a crime or something like that. So, facebook is a dangerous for people that have no control of themselves. Martha

Well, I have a count in facebook but honestly I have it becuase my friends were insisting to me get it. I don’t like facebook and sorry for the ones who love it but I consider that It has too many aplications that don’t have big relevance. It just works for keeping in touch with people who you lost contact or to meet more friends! But It’s not big deal for me maybe I’m old fashion sorry.

Facebook is only important to communicate with friends who are far away, but it is not necessary for use in the workplace.
