This is the cover

Lionel O’flanahan is a detective like no other in his field. And that’s because his field of research is nothing common: he is a DPA, a Detective on Paranormal Affairs. He lives in Everstone, a village that is normal to the naked eye, although conceals an extraordinary headquarter of supernatural events. Therein lies Lionel’s Office, who along with his assistant Claire Richards will try to solve the mysteries which in the Isle of Ghandú where Everstone is, are something usual. He is also helped by Cassandra O’flanahan, his sister, who knows more about the supernatural than it would appear, since albeit extraordinary, she’s not a normal person. Yet everything against him and with the chances of dying in each step, Lionel will venture to discover the secrets hidden in the Island, because a DPA should not be afraid of anything, but the fear itself.

For Chilo, who loves stories and heard this one first.

Chapter One: The Detective on Paranormal Affairs.

Lionel O’flanahan was sitting in front of the window of his office, turning its back on its broad polished mahogany desk, his most precious pride which always booted admiration samples from all of his customers. Resting on his last generation massager chair, Lionel watched the pale sunset while the light left until the very last corner of the square office. He stood up. Walking steady he went to the door and opened it to meet with Claire Richards, his loyal secretary, companion, best friend and confidant. He found her with her head in her hands, elbows on the desk, watching carefully the news channel on the TV on the opposite wall, where a speaker made a summary on the international most shocking events of last week. Lionel watched the screen while the announcer was talking nonstop. “The coasts of the islands near Ghandú have experienced strong tropical storms and floods have resulted in small areas adjacent to the dams of water. The population is very shocked because the storms are not common in summer, specially when they have this nature. The Civil Guard is at yellow alert since the storms have been accompanied by strong earthquakes, whose epicenter was located at sea at a point southwest of Ghandú’s capital. The most powerful tremor so far has had an intensity of 4.5 on the Richter scale, which has concerned the government by the imminence of a tsunami… ” The announcer continued talking while Li diverted his attention towards Claire. Had it not been because she was with eyes wide open, Lionel would have thought that she was asleep. He approached. – Claire mmm…… I wondered if I could… He did not finish the sentence. Claire, making a gesture as if awakening from a deep sleep, opened one of the many drawers in her desk and drew a thick folder, carefully preserved and sealed. -Here it is. This is what you were going to ask me for, right? ─ Y-yes, thanks ─ he exclaimed with a gesture of surprise. Lionel took the folder she was handing him while his mind was reasoning again the ways in which Claire was able to always know what he needed. Almost never he had to ask for anything. Always everything was ready, even ahead of schedule and everything impeccable, with no errors. She was very efficient, he knew, but from that to guess what he needed without committing any errors? This always gave him chills, and despite the time he had been working with Claire, he was still unable to get used to it. He shook his head, cleared his mind and decided to return to his office. He looked back at Claire, who was still engaged in the television, watching cartoons. But that WAS NOT the news channel that was before, was it? How was it possible that she had stood up to change the channel without he noticing? He had the remote control after all, so it could not be that… Lionel could not avoid making a gesture of surprise, but then he thought “no, that was merely my imagination”.
