“A picture is worth a thousand words.”

An ancient proverb says, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Regardless of the artist’s original intent, what we see in the picture can be very different from what others see. What words would you use to describe this picture? Use your imagination and experience to speculate what the story is about or to describe what is happening.

Ten Thousand Cents

Ten Thousand Cents, 2008

Drawn by 10000 anonymous artists, Custom software, Variable Size

Project

Ten Thousand Cents” is a digital artwork that creates a representation of a $100 bill. Using a custom drawing tool, thousands of individuals working in isolation from one another painted a tiny part of the bill without knowledge of the overall task. Workers were paid one cent each via Amazon’s Mechanical Turk distributed labor tool. The total labor cost to create the bill, the artwork being created, and the reproductions available for purchase are all $100. The work is presented as a video piece with all 10,000 parts being drawn simultaneously. The project explores the circumstances we live in, a new and uncharted combination of digital labor markets, “crowdsourcing,” “virtual economies,” and digital reproduction.

Hello All!

I believe that is good to have some kind of bucket list but in a smaller dimension, as to have a list of thing to do, before the day ends… in fact, every day could be the last and we should live it like that. Is not necessary to have a lot of money to do things that give you good emotions that fill your life. Some ideas? call a friend you haven’t spoken to in a long time… tell your family that you love them… go home early after work… smile to everyone you see…. This might sound a little bored, but I think that as long as we learn to be happy with the small things in our life, we are on the way to happiness.

Your Bucket List

I want you to do this ONE simple thing, sometime today: Veronica & I were talking about the “Bucket List” in class yesterday & it got me thinking about our blog.

I want you to create your ‘Bucket List’. This list consists of things you want to do before you “kick-the-bucket”. In other words, die. Keep the list handy for when you start feeling like life is getting boring, mundane, or a little depressing. It is a good reminder of the limited amount of time we have here and that you need to be focusing your energy on things you want to do.

Please post your list so that we can all share our ideas together.
Have a wonderful day!
